When I was a Freshman in High School, my little cousin Gradyn (Iron Man on the Home page) was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. I didn't even know that children that young could be diagnosed with Diabetes (he was 18 mos old at the time). This made me really appreciate how lucky so many of us are who never have these life long up-hill battles. I've also always been very moved by the work that St. Jude does for gravely ill children and their families. I can't imagine what it must be like for those kids to have to deal with such things at such a young age. Or what it must be like for their parents. These were the things that got me to thinking about what I could do that might help in some way.  I decided I wanted to start my own charity to help these kids feel empowered and strong. I wanted to do something that would help them feel courageous in the fight against their illness, but also something that would bring a smile to their faces.  And that's how Healing Heroes Fund came to be. I really believe in what I'm doing, and I hope to continue growing this charity year after year.

Fundraising Update:

2/24 - We were able to finally return to our normal fundraising efforts/ routines (since Covid) in 2023; and for that, we are so grateful! Not only to be able to get back to raising funds for this worthwhile charity, but also thankful to all of those who made 2023 such a great return for Healing Heroes Fund! We raised enough to divide our costume haul between two children's hospitals this year - Shriner's Childrens Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, WI.  See pic in the slideshow of Dustin having some fun dropping off the costumes at Shriner's.  As always, we are so happy to be a small part of making the daily lives of the children in these hospitals just a little bit better. We look forward to a successful fundraiser in 2024, and the possibility of adding a third hospital to the roster!
